Heteromastus Eisig 1887
Type species: Capitella filiformis Claparede 1864
Diagnosis of Heteromastus : Prostomium conical, sometimes pointed; eyes present or absent. Thorax with achaetous peristomium, 11 chaetigers, 1-5 with capillaries, thereafter hooded hooks. Branchiae present. Pygidium with terminal cirrus.

Remarks: A neotype was erected for the type species by Hutchings and Rainer, 1981, but was not from type locality.
