Dorvillea of Family Dorvilleidae

Dorvillea Parfitt 1866

Type species: Staurocephalus rubrovittatus Parfitt 1866

Diagnosis of Dorvillea : Dorvilleid with parapodia subbiramous throughout (except chaetiger 1), with notopodium consisting of base of dorsal cirrus and acicula projecting into the cirrostyle. Chaetae includes simple capillaries and heterogomph falcigers. One pair of biarticulate palps and one pair of moniliform antennae. Maxillae of jaws sclerotized, with maxillary carriers and 4 rows of denticles, of which posterior are fused to form basal plates; mandibles dark, triangular, with few teeth

Remarks: Schistomeringos is sometimes included (here separate) and has in addition furcate chaetae with short tines.
