Flabelligera of Family Flabelligeridae

Flabelligera Sars 1829

Type species: Flabelligera affinis Sars 1829

Diagnosis of Flabelligera : Flabelligerid with soft translucent body, covered with thick mucilaginous sheath supported by long, pedunculate papillae. Cephalic cage well developed, formed from long noto- and neuropodial capillaries of chaetiger 1. Notochaetae annulated capillaries. Neurochaetae of chaetiger 2 and following segments include 1 or more stout pseudocompound hooks. Branchial filaments numerous, arising in 2 groups of several irregular rows from thickened margins of cephalic hood.
