Hyboscolex of Family Scalibregmatidae

Hyboscolex Schmarda 1861

Type species: Hyboscolex longiseta Schmarda 1861

Diagnosis of Hyboscolex : Prostomium T-shaped, with irregular pair of eye pigment areas; body arenicoliform (not grub-like), segments may be annulated; branchiae absent, posterior parapodial cirri absent. Chaetae are capillaries and furcate chaetae; anterior acicular spines absent.

Remarks: Scalibregmatid generic distinctions are unsatisfactory, and thus are likely to be redefined and clarified for this genus in the future.
