Aonides of Family Spionidae

Aonides Claparède 1864

Type species: Aonides auricularis Claparède 1864

Diagnosis of Aonides : Prostomium conical, tapered both anteriorly and posteriorly. Peristomium poorly developed. Branchiae apinnate, separated from dorsal lamellae, beginning on chaetiger 2 and present on a variable number of anterior chaetigers; absent posteriorly. Bi- or tridentate hooded hooks present in both notopodia and neuropodia. Pygidium with anal cirri.

Remarks: Type Aonides auricularis is a junior synonym of Nerine oxycephala Sars, 1862
