Scolecolepides of Family Spionidae

Scolecolepides Ehlers 1907

Type species: Scolecolepides benhami Ehlers 1907

Diagnosis of Scolecolepides : Prostomium with anterior lateral SUBTERMINAL appendages (horns, not terminal (I.e. not T-shaped) as in some other genera). Branchiae present from chaetiger 1, basally fused with notopodial lamellae. Anterior chaetae mainly capillaries, neuropodial chaetae include acicular spines. Uni- or bidentate hooded hooks in posterior neuro- and notopodia. Pygidium with circle of cirri surrounding anus.
