| Biology: | H. Paxton (pers. comm, 11nov03) reports: " in the 70ties, when Bill Winter, a fisherman from southern Sydney, learned from the museum that I was working on beachworms, and came to see me. He regularly spent his holidays with a friend in New Zealand in Kataia and they went fishing on the Ninety Mile Beach. They had noticed the beachworms and said that nobody was collecting them. So they went about it like in Australia, with berley and a piece of hand-held bait and collected the worms to the surprise of other people on the beach. He brought me three specimens, of which I deposited two in the AM, and sent one to the USNM. | |||
